By Dr Rachel Clark, Project Coordinator, Engage with Strathclyde
Whilst the University of Strathclyde is always open for engaging with businesses and organisations, each year in early May we actively invite our current and prospective partners to come in and find out more about how we can work together through a series of specific events. Engage with Strathclyde takes place from 2-5 May, and there will be more than 55 events across the campus.
Since 2012, the programme has developed each year. Outcomes have been substantial, linking businesses and organisations with university research and expertise in many different ways including a variety of strategic research partnerships, consultancy and CPD.
Highlights in 2017 include:
KTPs and their Role in Medical Technology Development: this event discusses the very successful role KTPs have played, with industry examples; and is preceded by a showcase of the latest developments and expertise in 3D Printing for Medical Technologies which aims to transform current practices.
How Thinking SMART Can Help Your Organisation: all kinds of organisations benefit from advice on data collection, analysis and presentation, and the University’s SMART (Statistics and Mathematics Advice, Research and Training) unit are hosting a special networking event, with a keynote address by Mr Boyd Tunnock, of Uddingston confectioner Tunnock’s, where there is an opportunity to discuss the current challenges faced by organisations.
Making Glasgow a Sustainable Food City is not only a worthwhile aspiration but also the subject of an event which will discuss the societal issues of health and food provision.
The Strathclyde Business School, recently named Business School of the Year are offering a host of events including the next in their Glasgow Powerhouse series in conjunction with PWC, as well as an event aimed at Family Businesses, and the opportunity to trial one hour sessions in Change Management and Authentic Leadership.
The base for Engage with Strathclyde will be in the Technology and Innovation Centre, where staff can assist with your enquiries about partnering with the University to benefit your organisation. Visit the Images of Research Exhibition, a display of eye-catching images featuring current research projects. The Exhibition Opening Night, hosted by the Principal, Professor Sir Jim McDonald takes place on Tuesday 2nd May and is sponsored by Jessops and the Scottish Universities Life Sciences Alliance.
