Bill McBride is a Director of The Westcrowns Group, which has sales in excess of £40m per annum and employs some 400 people across two trading companies. He is Managing Director of the Construction Services Company, which distributes, installs and maintains specialist architectural glass and flooring in the UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Bill has for the past 3 years also chaired the Board of Routes To Work South Lanarkshire which is a registered charity and a not for profit intermediary organization with a mission to assist people into and returning to the labour market. Last year they returned some 1050 people to full time employment.

He is also Chair of the newly formed Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, with significant investment from Scottish Enterprise and The Scottish Funding Council. This influencing remit is to transform construction practices throughout Scotland by creating and nurturing a culture of innovation through collaboration with 12 partner Universities - it’s aim to both address existing challenges and to pursue new opportunities thus enhancing sustainable sector growth.

His own business was voted Best Lanarkshire Business in 2008 and one element of his product offering, the Lumaglass© Illuminated Glazing System, which he has patented in both Europe and North America, was voted Most Innovative Product in 2011 and is currently exported to Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

His people are, and always will be, at the heart of his business strategies and his business has achieved National Training Awards in recognition of this.

He sits on the Construction Scotland Industry Leadership Group whose remit is to provide strategic leadership and advice to industry and the public sector in Scotland, drawing on their members’ national and international expertise on global trends and issues and the niche areas where Scotland has global competitiveness.

In addition to his influence in Scottish construction matters, Bill also sits on the Board of Interface who facilitate, amongst other areas, innovation in a number of market sectors including food and drink, biotechnology and medical health sciences.

He is a Glasgow University Alumni with an Executive MBA (1992). He is also a Fellow Of The Royal Institution Of Chartered Surveyors (1993) and a Fellow Of The Institute Of Directors (2009)
