Highlands and Islands Enterprise is hosting a week-long DataFest18 Fringe with the support of partners. The focus will be the data opportunity, both now and in the future, for our businesses and communities in the Region.

FIT for healthy living - How Artificial Intelligence can help you
Future Intelligent Technology (or FIT) for healthy living goes way beyond FitBits and exercise regimes! FIT can help individuals to live independently and to manage illnesses and chronic conditions. CeeD breakfast briefing: Industrial applications of data analytics and machine-learning
Dr Gordon Morison from GCU will rapidly review three current projects that employ data analytics and/or machine learning in industry applications. These projects are focused on solutions for predictive maintenance, visual inspection for structural maintenance and supply chain optimisation.

Informed communities of the future
This session looks at how communities and enterprises can make use of Open Data. We will explore sources of Open Data within the Highlands & Islands with speakers from the Open Data Institute (ODI), Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) and UrbanTide.

Founder, entrepreneur and data pioneer, Vicky led her company Clear Returns to be named Top Technology StartUp in Europe, by the European Commission. Named by Forbes.com & Bloomberg as one of the 9 top female tech CEOs to watch, she is one of Computer Weekly’s Top 50 Women in IT. Craig Paterson from the DataLab will then lead a discussion on data innovation in practice including local case studies. This workshop is aimed at business leaders.
