Venue: Informatics Forum, 10 Crichton St, Edinburgh
Time: 10:00 to 16:00
This disparity needs to be challenged not only because the tech industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world and a valuable source of jobs for women but because it hurts the very tech companies who are deprived of a key driving force for innovation and ideas. The imbalance is even more profound when we look at earlier stages. According to Women in Technology, only 7% of students taking computer science A-level courses are female and just 50% of this number will go into a job in the same field.
In this first annual summit, Informatics Ventures and Women’s Enterprise Scotland have partnered to begin to address some of the issues and to help enhance the skills of those attending and to encourage the next generation of young women into the STEM subjects and the tech industry.
With an aim to inspire and stimulate discussion, the summit welcomes pupils over the age of 16 studying science, science undergrads, postgrads and academics, as well as industry representatives and technology SME’s and startups from all over the Scottish ecosystem.
Come along, be inspired, share and make a difference!
